Busy Day

It was a very busy and productive day por moi........

Had a productive group.

Went to Shuler's Book Store and sold back several paperbacks getting $19.80 in store credit.

Took a box of material to Rapid Shred for disposal. A good $5.00 investment.

Bought a bag of cat food for the girls.

Went to Menard's a bought a book and a bag of thistle (bird seed) and 3 pavers for a project. They didn't have the Fire Brick at the 1st store so I went to my least favorite and had a nice lady who knew exactly what I was asking for. Purchased 2 boxes (12 bricks) to repair the hole in RLA's chimney. I'm not sure this is the right material.

Went To Fruit Basket and purchased 50# of thistle.

Juliane removed and re-set my wireless mouse thingy. It seems to be working much better.

We watched an interesting show called Auction Hunters. Quite entertaining.

Returned Jim Brigham's call but had to leave him a message.

What's Been Going On !

It has been a hectic time since my last post.

Today, I assembled the drawer for my IKEA desk.

Rebecca has been here supervising the gathering and tossing of potential garage sale items.

The mulch pile is slowly disappearing - about a good days work left.

My book inventory is coming to the end. As of today I have 997 books recorded. Probably 35% of which I have not as yet read. Juliane has forbidden me to purchase any more books. I'm hopefull than many of the paperbacks will get sold. Rebecca also help me get a Billy Bookcase (IKEA) from the basement into my office. It is just about filled.

I finally was able to do some burning on Saturday. The pile was somewhat diminished but several boards still to be burned.

Saw 13 deer out back a few days ago. 10 doe, 2 fawn and a Spike. 4 of them we licking the mineral block at the same time. I just saw 4 hen turkeys out back.

The painter's were back on Friday to do some repair work. They discovered that the ledger board on the back side of the house has water damage.

This work seems to go so very slowly.

Where oh where has the little boy gone?

Between the computer puking and the Geek Squad repair (359.99); a trip to Mackinac Island, an abbreviated C 1/7 reunion because of illness, it's been a hectic time since my last post.

The weather has seemingly changed. So much that we ran the furnace last night. I'll have to check the propane tomorrow (Friday) to see how much it went down.

It seems that the Lambinator is now sick. I guess I sent it to her via ESP.

Michigan State is on a 2 game win streak and travels to the home field of the Biting Irish on Saturday. I'm hopeful.

We have been mulching away and still have a couple of yards of the stuff to distribute.

The Stock Market has been up and down - what else and our portfolio has been hit hard again.

The cats are well.

The parents are still hanging tough but I need to make a journey down there probably next week.

The Tigers are going great guns with 12 straight wins and are close to clinching the AL Central Division.

The Lions are favored by 9 points on Sunday - who woulda thunk?

10 Years Later

Today is the day that most of us remember exactly where we were when we heard the words - We are under attack.

For those of us old enough to remember - we still recall exactly where we were when President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

In some respect it was a simpler time - 1963 than today. The specter of Vietnam hadn't yet grown to it's full potential of death and destruction but at the same time today really isn't that much different in that militant groups want to take over the world.

I hope that the sacrifices of our Warriors do not go unnoticed in today's turbulent times.

Memorial Day and 2 days After

J & I took a trip to Macinac Island on Monday. I'm still fidling with my "repaired" Computer.

We had a lovely time.

More later.

Tomato Soup, Twinkie, Target, Tigers and Trip

The Five T's:

We spent several hours cooking and grinding the tomatoes and potatoes into soup.  I believe we have 15 - 5+ cup bags full.

Twinkie wasn't feeling well today so she wasn't able to come home.

We visit Target for the first time in over a month.

The Tigers are crushing the White Socks. Currently it's 9-0 in the bottom of the 4th inning. Every Tiger starter now has at least 1 hit.

We are mostly packed for our trip to Mackinac Island tomorrow. The last time we were there was as naive newlyweds.

Strange Football Day & Tomatoes & Deer

It's now almost 2100 hours and the Notre Dame game has been suspended for the second time today because of weather. ND is losing to USF. They are (were) ranked 16th and no way should they have been ranked that high.

Michigan's game was also delayed and then called because of the same storm system. They beat Western.

We went out early and bought a bushel of tomatoes to make soup. A big system blew through but only 5 drops of rain fell as we were shopping.

We saw several deer today and 3 bucks which now makes 4 different ones that we have identified.

Virus, Culligan, Michigan State

I opened a file today of Oldies from EG and also a file on Frank Gifford. One of these caused all of my files to become hidden. I then had to take the computer to the Geek Squad. Since I didn't have my external Hard Drive with me I had to make another trip back home. The cost including Back Up and a 2 year protection plan was $359.99. Hopefully I'll have it back by late Sunday.

I'm on a hunt for gonads.

Culligan came out today and did a maintenance check and replaced some filters at a cost of $111.09.

It's been an expensive day.

Michigan State is being pushed around by the flightless birds from Youngstown State.

I'm an unhappy camper right now.

Does & Fawns & Velvety Bucks

I saw several different Does today and each had a single fawn.

Since J saw 2 different sets of twins on Monday, I'm wondering if we now have more fawns roaming around?

Last year on 3Sep we saw evidence (sightings) of bucks that were starting to rub off their velvet.
